Pacific Bow Butts started out by purchasing a small company in
1997 that compressed wood shavings and sawdust into bales for nursery
packaging and archery backstops. Prior to this purchase, we studied
this type of archery backstop and discovered that arrow extraction
was extremely difficult especially with carbon arrows and durability
was very limited.
Something had to change.
We also studied other types of backstops. (i.e. layered foams, bags,
pressed foam, layered boards, carpet, ect.). Overall we found a
collective lack of consistency in durability, price and what's best
for the environment. Our goal, then, was to manufacture the most
durable, affordable, biodegradable friendly archery target backstops
with all the features archers expect.

Pacific Bow Butts uses a material that is as old as archery
itself...straw!
But, this is not simply just a bale of hay wrapped in white plastic
weave material, which some believe. The process includes finding
the proper straw, shredding it, and then forming and orientating
stems, adding a natural bonding agent, compression molded and banded
in specially designed machines then a covering process. This
results in a target backstop that will accept Broadheads and Fieldpoints
from 300 fps bows absorbing thousands of shots in a 3-4 inch diameter
area without sagging or pass through arrows. There isn't
any archery target on the market that can compare to this.
As a result of a longer lasting product for indoor or outdoor ranges,
Pacific Bow Butts claims significant maintenance and replacement
savings for all archery ranges. These targets have a flat surface
with two shootable sides where target faces can be affixed. Arrow
removal is an easy two-hand tug. Archery clubs in California shoot
